Badal who was born on July 25, 1966, is the wife of Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal. Re- elected from Bathinda constituency, Badal successfully defeated a four-party combine (Peoples Party of Punjab (PPP), Congress, CPI and the SAD-Longowal) led by her husband’s cousin Manpreet Badal.
Badal, the daughter-in-law of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 2009. Not only has she been married into a political family, her brother Bikram Singh Majithia, is an Akali MLA from Majitha.
