J&K Cabinet passes resolution condemning Udhampur attack

The Cabinet also approved ex-gratia relief of Rs five lakh and a government job to the next of the kin of the deceased youth

Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet today passed a resolution condemning the Udhampur petrol bomb attack on a truck that led to the death of a conductor and lauded the people of the state for maintaining peace and calm.

Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who chaired the Cabinet meeting here, moved the resolution condemning the October 9 incident at Shiv Nagar in Udhampur district that left two truckers severely injured.

Zahid, one of the injured, succumbed to injuries at a Delhi hospital yesterday and was laid to rest today in his native Batengoo.

"The Cabinet adopted the resolution in one voice. Later a two-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect for the departed soul," an official spokesman said.

The Cabinet also approved ex-gratia relief of Rs five lakh and a government job to the next of the kin of the deceased youth.

The Cabinet appreciated the people of the state for maintaining peace and calm in this hour of loss and grief, the spokesman said.
