AIADMK lists candidates for all 39 LS seats

Says AIADMK will fight the coming elections on the plank of 'peace, progress and prosperity'

Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa-led  All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) today announced candidates for 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu and one in Puducherry constituency, leaving none for its allies CPI and CPI(M).

After releasing the candidates list today, AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa, who turned 66 today, said some of the candidates would be withdrawn once the seat sharing agreement is concluded with the two left parties.

Early this month, AIADMK and the two communist parties, CPI and CPI (M), decided to form an alliance to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls

Speaking to reporters at the party headquarters in Chennai today, she said, “We are satisfied with the two allies. The alliance talks with CPI and CPI-M are still on and no conclusion has been reached so far. Therefore, AIADMK would withdraw its candidates in constituencies that may go for the allies”, she said.

Jayalalithaa said the party’s poll manifesto was taking shape and its campaign theme would be elaborated in that. Peace, prosperity and progress will be the slogan for AIADMK for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” she said.

The chief minister also announced she would start the election campaign from March 3 in Kanchipuram and will be touring till April 5.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, the AIADMK had won nine seats out of 39 seats.
