JD(U) to decide on 2014 polls tie-up after October: Nitish

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has indicated that his party, the Janata Dal (United) or JD (U) may join any alliance for next year's general election after next month.

Interestingly, he also made it clear that the JD (U) would not return to its ex-partner, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

"We will discuss about any possible collation or alliance with anyone only after October," said Kumar, when asked about possibilities of the JD (U) joining hands with the proposed third front or federal front.

"Any decision on whether to go alone or join forces with any political party or collation would be taken after proper discussion within the party," he said.

"Right now, we are busy in conducting meetings at Assembly constituency level, which will be over in next couple of weeks. After that, the JD (U) would begin workers meeting at Lok Sabha constituency and district level. Then, we would conduct a state level meeting, in which, we will contemplate on these electoral issues for the next parliamentary election. We will take any decision only after October," added the chief minister.

One of the powerful party leaders commented, "We are in a strong position in Bihar. Anyone, who would join hands with us, will be in beneficial position. Therefore, we are in position to choose our partners. Therefore, we are not acting hurriedly."

Meanwhile, on a question that JD (U) President Sharad Yadav favouring a tie up with the proposed third front, Kumar said, "Many ideas keep coming but a decision on elections will be taken after detailed discussion within the party."

On other hand, he also made it clear that the JD (U) will not return to its former partner, the BJP. He said, "We took a stand. Our concerns were being neglected. Therefore, we decided to part ways."
