Voting for the 230-member assembly polls that will also decide Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's electoral fate is presently underway in Madhya Pradesh.
The BJP-government led by Chouhan fighting for an unprecedented third consecutive victory in the state where Congress was ousted ten years ago.
Chouhan has exercised his franchise and has appealed to people to vote.
"I would request all the people of Madhya Pradesh to vote for the BJP and bring it to power," he said.
Polling in 227 assembly segments began at 8 a.m. and will continue till 5 p.m., while for 3 constituencies in naxal affected Balaghat district, it began at 7 am and will end at 3 in the afternoon.
More than four crore 64 lakh voters will decide the fate of 2,583 candidates, including 200 women candidates.

Meanwhile, 552 companies of security forces and more than forty thousand home guard jawans have been deployed for smooth conduct of polls.
Two helicopters are keeping vigil in the Naxal affected Balaghat and Singrauli districts.
