Opposition legislators demanded that they be allowed to pay respect to Munde, who died in a road accident in Delhi on June 3.
The House was adjourned twice after proceedings began as the treasury benches insisted that the House had already approved a 'condolence motion' following Munde's demise on Tuesday and argued that adopting another 'condolence motion' would set a wrong precedent.

The Tuesday's condolence motion was approved amid protests from the Opposition citing absence of BJP legislators and deviation from the tradition of moving such motions after last rites are performed.
The Speaker asked group leaders to evolve a consensus on how to resolve the matter. The suggestion to move a 'gratitude motion' was decided during this meeting (of group leaders), which was later approved by the House.
