Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Friday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he is a prisoner of his own mage and interested only in doing TRP politics.

The remarks came during Congress Parliamentary Party meeting which was chaired by Rahul in the absence of party President Sonia Gandhi.

"Modi is prisoner of his own image and interested in doing only TRP politics. Congress never gave India a prime minister who based his entire policy on TRPs," Rahul said.

Rahul attacked the Prime Minister over incessant ceasefire violation by Pakistan in which over 80 soldiers were martyred. There have been 21 major attacks and hundreds of ceasefire violations since the surgical strikes across the Line of Control on terror launch pads in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

"He (PM) has created the political vacuum that gives terrorists space to operate. But who is paying the price? Not Prime Minister, or Defence Minister. Our soldiers, their families paying price. 85 soldiers martyred, that's the highest number of men we have lost in almost a decade," Rahul said.

The Prime Minister came under fire from the Opposition for not attending the Winter Session of Parliament and replying on demonetisation debate.

"We never gave India a PM who by passed the experience of those sitting in the institutions. The country has suffered tremendous damage as a result of the vanity and incompetence of our PM," Rahul said.

Rahul also raised the issue of unrest in Jammu and Kashmir after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani on July 8. The state came to a standstill and normal life was affected for over four months.

"Prime Minister Modi will be judged by history as man who gifted massive political space to anti-India forces by creating opportunistic BJP-PDP pol alliance. Today the same person who used to ridicule us sits silently while Kashmir burns."
