Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today castigated some of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs for being absent during voting on the Land Acquisition Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha last Tuesday.

At the weekly BJP Parliamentary Party meeting where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present, these MPs were asked for reasons for being absent from the House on March 11.

These MPs included Riti Pathak from Madhya Pradesh, Poonam Mahajan and Preetam Munde from Maharasthra, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and West Bengal MP and minister Babul Supriyo.

Singh told senior leaders that he was on an official visit to Brazil, Supriyo pleaded that he was occupied with official work while Mahajan said she was unwell.

Others were asked to be more serious about their attendance during Parliament sessions. The PM has frequently advised his party MPs to be regular with their attendance in Parliament and come well prepared for discussions and debates.
