Sharpening attack on BJP, its former ally JD(U) today assailed its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for decision to honour two party legislators accused in Muzaffarnagar communal riots and alleged he was trying to win elections by patronising communal clashes.

"The act (honouring two Uttar Pradesh MLAs Sangeet Som and Suresh Rana at Agra rally tomorrow) proves his love for communal riots," JD(U) General Secretary and state minister Shyam Rajak said in a statement.

"It's a clear message for party workers to trigger communal riots and get honoured by Narendra Modi," Rajak added.

The senior JD(U) leader said there was nothing unusual about this as Narendra Modi has a background in RSS which was described as "communal" by Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.

"Sardar Patel had put a ban on RSS describing it as communal. The ban was lifted only when RSS promised to get away from politics and indulge only in cultural activities," the senior JD(U) leader said.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has made it clear that Narendra Modi is choice of the Right wing organisation for PM post, he said.

"Now, it's becoming clear that which way Narendra Modi wish to take the country," he said, adding people would give a befitting reply to him.
