Moradabad District Magistrate Chandrakant today suffered serious injuries amid clashes between the police and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protesters.
Confirming the report, Inspector General (IG) Law and Order from Lucknow Amrendra Singh Sengar told the media that there was stone pelting on the police by the protesters
"There was stone pelting on the police scattered during which many people got injured and Moradabad District Magistrate Chandrakant was seriously injured in his eyes. He has been shifted to a hospital, the SSP along with an inspector Sudhir Tomar also got injured," said Sengar.
Earlier today, detention of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) resulted in clashes between the police and party protesters leading to firing of tear gas by the police and stone pelting by the protesters.
Among the detained leaders were Muzzafarnagar riots accused BJP MLA Sangeet Som and other party leaders.
They were on their way to hold a Mahapanchayat in Moradabad to protest against the administration's decision to remove loudspeaker from a temple.
