MPPEB scam: Have proof of 22,000 fake appointments,says Katare

Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Satyadev Katare has said he has evidence of over 20,000 fake appointments following the scam in the state Professional Examination Board (PEB).

"A total of 32 scams including recruitment of contract teachers took place during 2012. I have proof of 22,000 fake appointments," Katare told reporters here last evening while terming it as one of the biggest scams in the country.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had accepted in the state Assembly that around 1,000 appointments made through the MPEB between 2007 and 2013 were found to be fake, he said.

It was strange that the OSD of a former minister was arrested in connection with the scam but the ex-minister was not been apprehended till now, the Congress leader said.

The MPPEB scam came to light in July last year after alleged irregularities were found in the state's Pre-Medical Test (PMT) and in recruitment for various government posts, including contractual teachers.
