The local police has decided not to register a case against Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on the complaint that he violated motor vehicle rules by jumping atop a police vehicle during his visit to Kerala.

According to police sources, Gandhi had jumped on to the vehicle with the knowledge of the security personnel as there was a surge of party workers when he arrived at Nooranad in Alappuzha district to participate in a padyatra organised by the Youth Congress on Monday.

The complaint was lodged with Nooranad police on yesterday by a local NCP leader, Mijib Rahman, alleging Gandhi's action amounted to violation of Section 123 of the Motor Vehicle Act and wanted police to initiate action against the Congress leader.
