Over 12 leaders of separatist oufit JKLF, including its chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik, were detained by police at Pampore today while they were on way to Shopian town in south Kashmir where curfew was lifted after 10 days.

Malik and his colleagues were stopped at Pampore in Pulwama district and taken into preventive custody, police said.

The JKLF leaders were going to Shopian with relief material, including foodgrains and medicines, after curfew was lifted from the town.

However, police allowed the trucks carrying the relief material to proceed to Shopian.

Shopian was placed under curfew on September 8, a day after four persons -- three civilians and a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant -- were killed in CRPF firing.

Curfew was lifted on September 11 but another youth was killed in CRPF firing during protests against the earlier killings, leading to reimposition of the restriction.
