Opposition parties in Maharashtra comprising Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena on Sunday decided to boycott the customary tea meeting convened by the chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on the eve of commencement of a three week monsoon session of the state legislature.
Opposition leaders Eknath Khadse, Vinod Tawde (BJP), Subhash Desai (Shiv Sena) and Bala Nandgaonkar (MNS) at the press conference led a blistering attack against the Congress-NCP government and said they would not spare the government during the monsoon session for its inaction, rampant corruption and loot of the state.

The decision to boycott the customary tea meeting was taken at their joint meeting held at Khadse's residence.
Khadse alleged that the Congress-NCP government was of the plunders and the chief minister Prithviraj Chavan is the chief these plunders. "The government is embroiled in series of corruption cases and opposition will not spare it,"he said.

Further, Khadse expressed serious displeasure over the government's move to give a bounty of Rs 10 crore only to ruling party members neglecting the opposition members in the legislature. ''We have been protesting the government's decision in last two sessions and will further take on the government on this issue during the monsoon session. We will expose government for being partial,"he noted.
Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai slammed the government for not being serious in carrying out investigation into the multi crore irrigation scam. He objected to the government's decision to grant extension upto December to the special investigation team (SIT) headed by water expert Madhav Chitale probing the irrigation scam. He claimed that the SIT lacks adequate powers.
Further, opposition leaders said they will oppose the a bill seeking to check unfair practices like black magic and cheating at the hands of self-styled godmen and tantriks. They termed the bill ''anti Hindu."
Moreover, the opposition parties will also raise issues relating to the deteriorating law and order, rise in illegal constructions, attack on the underworld kingpin Abu Salem in the Taloja jail. Besides, opposition parties will seek government's explanation on the present sorry state of affairs in the education sector.
