Narendra Modi is always seen in the company of the "rich and influential" and the poor of the country are scared what would happen to them if the Gujarat Chief Minister were to become prime minister, a Bihar minister has alleged.

"Modi is a man who is always seen in the company of the rich and the influential and 90 per cent of the poor in the country are afraid what will happen to them if this man succeeds (in becoming the prime minister)," Bihar Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh told PTI.

"Minority Muslims, law-abiding citizens and the poor are frightened of him," the senior JD(U) leader added.
