Call it 'Modi effect' or whatever, but post Congress party's electoral drubbing in the state in the recent Lok Sabha polls, Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi has suddenly gone on an overdrive. Circumstances point that such a move might probably be aimed at outsmarting the dissident camp which is clamouring for his ouster.

After days of inactivity at the state secretariat post the election results, the state government, at least the 'pro-Gogoi' camp, is back to work; and that too with an amount of enthusiasm and zeal that they had never displayed in past. Soon after the election results were out, where the Congress party managed to win just three of the 14 seats in Assam, works at the secretariat came to almost a grinding halt as 'pro-Gogoi' camp flew to New Delhi with the chief minister in a bid to impress upon the high command so that the wish of the opposite camp for an ouster of Gogoi did not prevail.
