The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday said the false promises made by former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal have been exposed as the Aama Aadmi Party government could not fulfil its poll promise of providing cheap power.
"We strongly condemn the burden of a three-fold hike in power tariff for the power consumers of Delhi. AAP has betrayed the people of Delhi and the falsehood of Arvind Kejriwal is being exposed," the party's Delhi unit Harsh Vardhan said.
The AAP government made an announcement for 50 percent decrease in power tariff by paying subsidy of Rs.372 crore per month to the power companies. However, in the vote on accounts of Delhi government presented by Finance Minister P. Chidambaram in parliament Friday and approved, there is no mention of any subsidy on power tariff from April 1.
"After this announcement, the power consumers will have to now pay at the rate of Rs.7 per unit from April," noted Harsh Vardhan.
