In the run up to the Lok Sabha polls, Gandhi reportedly discussed the party poll manifesto with CWG members, which is in the drafting stage, and current political issues. Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were not present at the meeting.
According to sources, Gandhi was concerned that five of the six anti-corruption Bills that the government was attempting to push through could not be passed in this Session. Only the Whistleblowers Bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha.

Interacting with activists at Vijay Chowk later, the Congress leader said, “The opposition deceived us by not supporting the anti-corruption Bills.” Gandhi who has been at the forefront of the party’s prepartions for the Lok sabha polls, had yesterday too, met up with young MPs from the party for their feedback on the polls.
Today’s meeting with the CWC comes in the midst of the Congress party’s talks with allies in several states to firm up alliances namely in Bihar, Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
The meeting was delayed as it coincided with the last day of the last session of the 15th Lok Sabha, which worked well into the evening. Most party MPs are now heading into their constituencies to interact with their constituents, inaugurate as many public projects as possible before the Model Code of Conduct kicks in.
