Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday said Rahul Gandhi's weekend trip to Muzaffarnagar was a publicity stunt and had nothing to do with the suffering of the people.
"All this is only to appease the people and for cheap publicity," he added.
"The Congress and its leaders occasionally feel like having a good time. When Congress leaders decide to take a vacation, they end up doing something like this. It is like a long drive for them," said Naqvi.
"Even the incident of Rahul Gandhi visiting Muzaffarnagar is the same. They have not done one work to help the riot victims; the visit is just for enjoyment," he said.
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday visited the relief camps in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar.
According to television reports, Gandhi held interactions with riot victims at Malakpur in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli District.
