The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 2 pm over the procedural wrangle on whether to take up for discussion the ongoing violence in Gaza or not.
The opposition parties have been insisting since yesterday to take up the matter for discussion.
But the government is not in favour to do so, saying the discussion over the sensitive matter may affect India's relations with the friendly countries, Israel and Palestine.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had earlier said that both Israel and Palestine are friendly countries to India and such a debate was neither acceptable as per the rules nor desirable.
She said the matter should not be discussed to avoid any negative impact on the relations.
When the house met this morning, both opposition and the Government stuck to their stands on the issue.
As the uproar continued, Deputy Chairman Prof. P J Kurien adjourned the House till 2 pm.
