Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that he was ready to put plaques with names of Congress leaders on Narmada dam if the Union government stopped playing politics and allowed his government to install flood gates on the dam.
He was addressing gathering of farmers of Saurashtra region here on the occasion of foundation stone lying ceremony of Saurashtra Narmada Avataran Irrigation Yojna (SAUNI). Modi said he did not want to do politics on Narmada Dam. “I do not want any credit for the Narmada dam. We will put up plaques with name of Congress leaders on Narmada dam be it Jawaharlal Nehru, Indiraji (Gandhi), Rajivji (Gandhi), Soniyaji (Gandhi) or her son or her daughter’s son, but give us permission to put up flood gates on Narmada dam.”
On use of technology in agriculture, Modi said that new generation farming was necessary. “Development of agriculture infrastructure and agricultural technology will boost farmers and we are working on it. So many things have already been done in this sector and many more can happen in these sectors,” said Modi. He advised farmers to adopt drip irrigation for farming and understand the importance of value addition in agricultural products.

He said that new generation will not accept traditional farming and in this condition we have to focus on such technology which can improve agriculture and helps the farmers to get better result.
