Revenue employees in district collectorate have threatened to go on indefinite strike starting Monday if two persons who allegedly attacked a clerk attached to Election department last week are not arrested by then.

"We would launch an agitation and strike work from Monday to press for our demands. The agitation will continue until the duo are arrested and charges framed against them," Revenue Employees Association president JS Patil and Executive President Bhaskar Ghavale stated in a release on Sunday.

A memorandum seeking immediate action against the duo was submitted to district collector Mahendra Kalyankar.

The incident occurred Friday when Sachin Gharat and Vishal Gharat approached the clerk, identified as Vilas Tungar, at Tehsil office carrying a bunch of Form 6. However, Tungar refused to accept the forms in bulk and asked them to approach Talathi.

However, Gharats got annoyed and started abusing Tungar. They allegedly pulled him out of his chair and slapped him, police said, adding that the duo also threatened Tungar.

Police have booked the duo under various sections of IPC, and yet to make any arrest.
