Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Thursday exhorted party members to make Maharashtra Congress-Nationalist Congress Party free during the Assembly poll slated for October. He asked party workers to focus on reaching out to every voter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development message in a bid to form the BJP-Shiv Sena-led Maha Yuti government in Maharashtra.

Addressing party workers during his maiden visit to the city after taking over as the party president, Shah led a blistering attack against the Congress-NCP government's 15-year rule, and alleged that the incumbent government had simply looted the state. Besides, the government is involved in a slew of corruption cases and scams, Shah said.

Shah reiterated that such a corrupt government will have to be uprooted to form the BJP-Shiv Sena-led Maha Yuti government in the state. He advised party workers not to bother about seat sharing among Maha Yuti partners - comprising BJP, Shiv Sena, Swabhimani Sehtkari Sanghatana, Republican Party of India, Rashtriya Samaj Party and Shiv Sangam. Party workers should make all efforts to defeat the Congress-NCP alliance in the state.

"During the 15-year rule, the Congress-NCP government has siphoned off a whopping Rs 11.28 lakh crore. They could have used that money to further push Maharashtra's growth," Shah observed. He stated that farmers in the state are getting electricity for 12 to 14 hours while their counterparts in other states enjoy 24-hour power supply.

Shah showered praise on BJP-ruled states saying those states are engaged in taking development to a new high.

Meanwhile, NCP's former Union minister of state Suryakanta Patil and former state minister Babanrao Pachpute and Congress' former MP Bhaskarrao Patil-Khatgaonkar joined BJP in Shah's presence. Shah announced BJP will welcome capable leaders from various political parties in its fold.
