UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Friday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Madhya Pradesh Government has done nothing for the development of the state while being in power.

"I am sad looking at the ten years of misgovernance by the BJP in Madhya Pradesh. There were only talks of development in Madhya Pradesh, but many children died of malnutrition. Crimes against women have increased, and the farmers here have committed suicide," she said at a rally here today.

"There is lack of doctors in hospitals, because of which proper treatment is not given to the people. The corruption here is such that thirteen of Madhya Pradesh ministers were indicted by the Lokayukta, but what steps were taken after that by the BJP here?" she questioned.

She said that the Congress Party is committed towards fighting poverty and hunger, and also charged the state government of misusing the money given by the Centre for people's development.

"The UPA Government at the Centre started MGNREGA to guarantee employment to people in rural areas. But here in Madhya Pradesh, instead of unemployed people availing this benefit, machines and contractors got the jobs," she said.

"We brought Food Security, mid day meal, health schemes, etc, and we gave every aid possible for these schemes to be implemented here. What happened to the money given by the Centre for development? You should this question to the BJP government here," she added.

Gandhi also said that the BJP government has been misleading the people of Madhya Pradesh by making tall claims of development in all their rallies.
