Actress-turned-politician Jayaprada, who was expelled from Samajwadi Party in 2010, today criticised the Uttar Pradesh government saying that they neglected the ground realities in Muzaffarnagar.

Speaking to reporters here, Jayaprada alleged that the Samajwadi Party government neglected the ground realities in Muzaffarnagar and allowed communal disturbances in the district which have claimed several lives.

"Had this government taken note of the signs at proper time, the communal forces might not have succeeded," she said.

On the controversy over SP leader Azam Khan's absence from the party's national executive meet, Jayaprada said both Mulayam Singh and Ramgopal Yadav were "unreliable" leaders who embraced and disowned people for the sake of power.

"I am with Azam Khan in this critical time and acknowledge him as respected elder brother. I wish to cooperate with him," he said.

Jayaprada said Khan had played a major role in bringing her into party's fold and added that she was willing to forget all bitterness between them caused by her suspension from the party.

Triggering speculation of a rift in the SP, Khan skipped the SP's two-day national executive meet in Agra after he was reportedly unhappy with his own government's handling of the riots that has claimed over 40 lives.
