In the backdrop of former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda dubbing the recent Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searches at his residences as political vendetta, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said the CBI is an independent agency and the state government doesn't interfere in its functioning.
"The CBI is an independent agency, we don't interfere in its functioning," he said when asked to comment on the searches conducted by the CBI at the residences of Hooda.
Khattar said Hooda had, in the recent session of the assembly, said that he was prepared for any investigation, but when the probe begun, he started levelling allegations.
He also said that the investigation has just started.
Two days ago, the CBI had carried out searches at multiple locations including the residences of Hooda in a case of alleged irregularities in acquisition of land in Gurgaon in which farmers were cheated to the tune of Rs 1,500 crore.
