After raising funds from the public to support their election campaign, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is now approaching the common man in Delhi, to talk to voters and seek votes for the party.

The party has sought support of people from other states and NRIs, requesting them to call up Delhi citizens and ask for support to the party.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party has started this as part of 'Citizen Calling Campaign', also known as C-Cube. The movement utilises two modes -- telephone and internet. A system randomly assigns a unique set of ten telephone numbers of Delhi citizens to anyone who wants to be associated with the initiative. These numbers are sent to the volunteers through SMS every morning, through a software developed by the AAP's technical team.

The telephone numbers of Delhi citizens were collected during many of the party's past campaigns and the Anna Hazare Movement.

"The idea is to open a window of opportunity for the party followers who do not have the opportunity to vote in Delhi", said Pankaj Gupta, National Secretary, AAP.

He said that as the party lacks funds to hold big rallies like the Congress and BJP, this movement not only savs money but also adds a "personal touch" which helps connect better with the voters.

The Assembly elections in Delhi will be held on 4 December this year.

This campaign is an innovative way in which the party has been able to channelize the support it enjoys from people across the country.

"We are getting an overwhelming response from people outside Delhi. The volunteers can talk to the citizens in length and convince them to be a part of the change", said Bhaskar Singh, one of the party volunteers.

Around 210 districts across the country are part of the campaign, some of which include Agra, Cuttack, Lucknow, Mysore, etc. The party said that around 2 lakh calls have already been made. On a daily basis, 7,000-8,000 calls are received by the Delhiites through this drive.

Besides this, the party has also launched a "Call-a-Thon" series, to target the non-resident Indians (NRI) supporters and encourage their participation. "This is the campaign version of marathon", said one of the volunteers.

Two teams from different countries will compete with each other, making  continous calls to people in Delhi within a week. The team which makes the maximum number of calls wins the "marathon".

People living in the same locality can assemble at a common location and begin with the calling session.

As many as 35 countries have already associated themselves with the C-Cube drive. This list includes countries such as USA, UAE, Australia and Singapore, as among the highest participating volunteers.

"This is one of the ways adopted by the party to bring in enthusiasm among party followers, let them be a part of the movement and contribute from every corner of the world", said Singh.
