Tarun Gogoi slams both AGP and BJP
Says people of Assam were politically conscious not to fall prey to the misinformation campaign unleashed by both the parties against the incumbent Congress govt
BS Reporter Guwahati Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi today got into poll mode and slammed both BJP and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) for "going on a propaganda overdrive against the Congress government with an eye on the up-coming Lok Sabha polls". He said people of Assam were politically conscious not to fall prey to the misinformation campaign unleashed by both the parties against the incumbent Congress government.
Chief Minister Gogoi termed the AGP rule as the "darkest chapter" in the history of Assam during which the secret killing of family members of leaders and cadres of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) occurred.
"Anarchy and mayhem ruled the roost during AGP rule. The people did not dare to venture out in the dark. The economy of the state was in a shambles with developmental activities coming to a grinding halt. Not to speak of development, the government employees did not get their salaries for months together."
