Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad's 26 years old son Tejaswi Yadav - Bihar's new deputy Chief Minister - started his new inning as Bihar's PWD Minister on Monday with a statement of intent.

He promised a 'modern Bihar'.

Tejaswi emphasised that development of Bihar is his priority. "We had promised that we want to see Bihar as a modern state. My department is related to infrastructure, I will focus on improving road connectivity and it should reach even remotest of the villages. A lot has been done in last 10 years in Nitish ji tenure. We will accelerate the pace of roads construction. I will personally review ongoing projects and set new targets," said the new Deputy Chief Minister.

"I will sit with the officers and discuss with them about the ongoing projects, funds, and then chart out a plan for future. Development of Bihar is my priority," he added. Tejaswi, on Friday, was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and was also given additional charges of three portfolios in the new cabinet.

Tejaswi also promised that he will not tolerate corruption and will take stern action. He said, "People had given us a big mandate. I want to instruct my officials that work will be our focus and corruption will not be tolerated at all. Stern action will be taken against corrupt officials. I will personally monitor that the honesty is maintained in my departments."

Lalu Prasad Yadav's other son Tej Pratap Yadav has also been allocated three ministries in the Nitish Kumar-led Cabinet. He also took charge of Health department and immediately convened a meeting of senior officials. His office later issued a statement, which reads "I won't speak, I will work."

In a grand event on Friday, Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the fifth time in Patna. Lalu's sons Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejaswi Yadav also took oath as ministers of Bihar.
