The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has ruled out its merger with Congress ahead of the upcoming general elections.
However, the TRS has decided to form a committee of senior leaders headed by Keshav Rao to look into the issue of alliances.
This was disclosed by the Party President K Chandrashekhar Rao here last night after a day-long meeting of the General Body of the party.
"Our party has unanimously decided not to merge with Congress party. There is a committee in the chairmanship of K Keshav Rao, the secretary general of the party, who looks into alliances, if any," said Rao.
The development came a week after the TRS president met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in the national capital about a possible merger or alliance between the two.
