Leaving behind the controversy over LK Advani's resignation after his elevation as chief of BJP's 2014 election committee, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is back in the business of bashing the Congress.

Coming down heavily on Congress-led UPA government on Wednesday, Modi termed the central leadership shameless for politicising the plight of poor through Food Security Bill.

"The Central leadership is shameless. Rather than honouring the Supreme Court order on giving away spoiling wheat free to poor, they sold it off to liquor makers for 65 paise per kg," Modi said during addressing a public rally in Vadodara today.

"In 10 years of their rule, they did not think of bringing Food Security Bill. It is because of their sins that people are starving now and therefore they are thinking of introducing the Bill now," he said.

Accusing the UPA government of working to protect their power over country, Modi said that BJP works to protect the interest of the country.

"Another major weakness of the current Delhi government is their inconsistent policies, due to which the common man is suffering," he said.

"The Congress has been plaguing the country like a decease for decades. It  is necessary to make India Congress-free, only then the nation building can happen," he said amid slogans of "PM..PM" by his supporters.

Modi inaugurated civic projects worth Rs 70 crore by Vadodara Municipal Corporation on Wednesday. Also, present were senior ministers including revenue minister Anandiben Patel, finance minister Nitin Patel and energy minister Saurabh Patel among other local BJP leaders.
