VC should resign: Adhir

Demanding the resignation of Jadavpur University Vice Chancellor Abhijit Chakraborty, West Bengal PCC president Adhir Chowdhury today condemned the 'police attack' on JU students. "We condemn the brutal attack on students by police. This is a shame for all of us. We want the VC of Jadavpur University to step down immediately," Chowdhury said.

Police had entered the university and lifted the gherao of Vice-chancellor Abhijeet Chakrabarty and Registrar Pradip Ghosh by the students in the early hours of Wednesday.

The students had taken the VC and Registrar Pradip Ghose hostage on Tuesday evening demanding an independent probe into the sexual harassment of a girl student inside a boy's hostel on August 28.
