'Surface India' tackles energy and environmental issues on 3rd day of HMFI

With various high intensity activities and conferences happening, the 3rd day at the 4-day trade fair by Hannover Milano fairs India (HMFI) ended in the same euphoria that it started with.  The day however, focused on a very vital issue which has off late managed to garner great attention from people all over the world. It incorporated a very important discussion relevant to Nature and minimizing the pollution through the newly introduced Surface India. Surface India discussed about Surface Treatment which today is considered a key technology of modern industry. “Green Coatings and Modern Surface Modification Techniques” conference organized by Society for Surface Protection Coatings, India and HMFI discussed issues related to Smart Coatings, Surface Treatments, Green Coatings etc.

Dr. Martin Riester, Head Surface Treatment Technology, VDMA explained how with the application of the right technology, it is possible to take social and environmental responsibility and conduct a profitable business in surface treatment. Dr. Swapan Kumar Ghosh, Dir. GreenCoat Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. discussed about 21st Century Smart Coatings and explained the importance of Green Technology in today’s world. He explained how these coating react and sense their environment and make an appropriate response to the stimulus thereby fulfilling the functional needs of the system.

Soon followed by this was a seminar on ‘Energy efficiency – Emission reduction in transformer manufacturing technology’ which had dignitaries talking about the various trends that researchers are trying to find and establish in the industry. They also discussed the current and futuristic options that the industry should consider and informed about the various technologies that are being researched upon and are expected to be a part of the market in the coming years like the Nano technologies and Nano oils etc. The dignitaries on the panel were Dr. S.V. Kulkarni, Dept. of Electrical engineering, IIT Mumbai, Mr. Avinash Barve, Director, International Copper foundation, Mr. Anil Agarwal, president, ITMA, Mr. R. V. Shah, MD, High Volt.

The day also witnessed a launch of a highly efficient and user friendly software called VERSION 2.0 by EPlan Electric which is a market leading supplier of first class engineering solutions. The new version launched today has over 1000 new features. This new version also supports Windows 07 thus making it user friendly. Through this new model, EPlan will now be able to offer new models, to name a few Eplan proPlan, Eplan P&ID etc.

The event however, is not all about seminars and exhibitions. HMFI is making sure that the exhibitors are exposed to their target consumers and business partners, and while the business is on a high, the moral does not go down. Among the various awards that are being presented to the exhibitors are - ‘Best Stall Design’ which was bagged by ‘Festo’. Festo was chosen for this award among all the stalls exhibited in all the five fairs of Hannover Milano Trade fairs India 2010. “It is definitely a matter of pride”, says Mr. S. M. Dangi, Marketing manager, Festo Controls Pvt. Ltd. Talking about the trade fair he adds, “our business will benefit a lot because of the fair as it is a very focused exhibition for our kind of business. Not only the response is very encouraging, but also the rate of conversion of footfall to business deals is also very high”.

Schaeffler Group who bagged the 1st runners up award for the same title too thinks on the same lines. The fair helps them interact with the right kind of people to do business with, create a better visibility for their brand, attend to customers’ needs and generate new enquiries.

A special recognition award for the most innovative stall was also presented and it went to Parker Hannifin India Pvt. Ltd. “We are fairly happy with the quality of visitors this time and also there was an increase in number of footfalls. The strongest point of the fair however remains its exhibitors where more than 350 exhibiters are participating in the event and more than a third of these companies are global. Crowds are thronging in to attend:
