ACK Media targets to reach 1000 stores across 20 cities by June 2010

  • ACK Media enters the Home Video business, to explore the Kids Entertainment category.

ACK Media, India's leading entertainment and Education Company for young audiences announced their entry into the home video business. Exploring the kids entertainment market, ACK Media objective is to become the No. 1 Home Video brand in the Kids category by leveraging on the popular Brand name and introducing a wide range of innovative products offering the highest quality animation content to Indian kids through a strong distribution channel.

ACK Media entered into Home Video business with        the launch of 4 titles namely Tales of Shivaji, Birbal the Wise, Hanuman to the rescue and the Pandavas in Hiding under the brand of Amar Chitra Katha Animated Series. This was followed by the launch of 4 titles under the brand "Tinkle Junior” targeting the kid’s edutainment segment with ‘ask about animal series’, which has fun with learning. In a short span of 6 months their products are present in more than 400 stores across 12 cities.

They have partnered with Landmark, Crossword, Odyssey, Reliance Retail, Oxford, Planet M, Music World and all major stores across India. Their products are also available in all major online portals including indiaplaza.com,  indiatimes.com,  rediffshopping.com  and the very  popular amarchitrakatha.com . ACK Media has already sold 40,000 copies of their Home Videos. Titles like Tales of Shivaji and Birbal the wise have become quite popular that more copies are being re-printed.

With a string of launches in different price bands, ACK Media expects to reach around 1000 stores in 20 cities by the end of June 2010.  They plan to launch 75 new titles, which would include a strong catalogue of more than 20 Amar Chitra Katha Animated Titles by the end of 2010. 

“There was a big need of quality 'Indian' content at the 'just right' price band in the home video market which is flooded with a lot of foreign heroes, foreign content .We could identify that gap. We have a lot of content in the form of Amar Chitra Katha books and we plan to take and convert them into high quality animation. ” said Mr. Samir Patil, CEO  & Founder, ACK Media.
