Employees come forward to bring smiles on the faces of the underprivileged sections of society
Alcatel-Lucent’s Delhi-NCR employees today took part in the company’s International Days of Caring (IDOC), by arranging for a day of fun and recreation for the underprivileged children.
Sponsored by the Alcatel-Lucent Foundation, IDOC is a multi-month employee volunteer initiative that takes place around the world to address key community needs and issues. As part of this global initiative, Alcatel-Lucent organized volunteer activities in the city in association with Faith Foundation. Faith Foundation works for the upliftment and empowerment of the underprivileged children in the city.
The employees from the Alcatel-Lucent in Delhi-NCR organized a day out to Amusement Park for the disadvantaged kids. They also organized a fund donation drive and old clothes collection drive for the NGO.
IDOC demonstrates Alcatel-Lucent’s commitment to social responsibility by supporting and encouraging volunteer activities performed by teams of employees in communities where they live and work.
“The mission of our program is to bring to life Alcatel-Lucent’s value of good corporate citizenship and the International Days of Caring program affirms to our sincerity to the cause,” said Ronald D’ Souza, Vice President-Human Resources, Alcatel-Lucent India. “This program will be supported extensively by our employees with a strong sponsorship and commitment from the Alcatel-Lucent foundation.”
About International Days of Caring (IDOC)
The first Alcatel-Lucent International Days of Caring Project (IDOC) was launched in 2008. Held annually in April/May/June, the multi-week event focuses on team-driven, employee-led projects. More than 9,800 employees supported more than 180 projects for a total of nearly 75,000 volunteer hours, in 15 countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, India, Italy, Kenya, Korea, Poland, Spain, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States (in 18 states).
