Amity Founder-President honoured at nation-building forum

Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder-President, Amity Group is felicitated with "Excellence in Education Award" during National Congress on "Building New India through Excellence in Education" by Ramakrishna-Vivekananda International Foundation

A two-day National Congress on "Building New India through Excellence in Education" organized by Ramakrishna-Vivekananda International Foundation at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Swami Vivekananda concluded with a glittering "Award Ceremony", in which a number of distinguished personalities were awarded for their outstanding contribution and achievements in respective areas. Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan -Founder President, Amity Group was felicitated with "Excellence in Education Award" for his remarkable efforts in the area of Education.

Hon'ble Ms. Ambika Soni- Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting; Shri Oscar Fernandez, Hon'ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on HRD; His Excellency Mr. Shekhar Dutt- Governor of Chhattisgarh and Dr. T. K. A. Nair- Hon'ble Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India were the Guests of honor during the ceremony

While addressing the august gathering, His Excellency Mr. Shekhar Dutt- Governor of Chhattisgarh said that Swami Vivekananda was an extraordinary personality who used to think for the development and growth of modern India. The only way to achieve this is by his ideas and ideals. His message was to completely rejuvenate the youth of the country to make the nation strong and powerful in the world. Arise, awake and stop not till you achieve your goals is be strictly followed. It is always to be remembered that self help is the best.

Shri Oscar Fernandez, Hon'ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on HRD said, " Pandit Nehru laid the foundation to build modern India and Mahatma Gandhi lead the country to the path of non-violence and won freedom. On the same lines Swami Vivekananda throughout his life tried to contribute to the growth and development of the country. His speeches were extremely inspiring which motivates the younger generation a lot. India is young and to make it younger we are to contribute in our own way to make the country number one in every aspect in the world."

Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan -Founder President, Amity Group in his acceptance speech said, "the award is the result of the entire Amity family. The award demands more of dedication and good work. Amity will help make India a Super Power. I am extremely proud of the Ramakrishna-Vivekananda International Foundation's work in nation building."

During the two day Congress, various interesting sessions unfolded themed on "Swami Vivekananda's Vision of Education"; "Academic Creativity & Talent Building"; "Education as the Driver of National Development" by eminent academicians such as Prof. V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor IGNOU and Chairman, DEC; Prof. Shekhar Choudhury, Director, Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata; Prof. B. P. Singh, Chairman, Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research; Prof. R. C. Sobti, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh and many more.

The other eminent awardees were Shri Somnath Chatterjee, former Hon'ble Speaker of Lok Sabha for Statesmanship; Ustab Amjad Ali Khan, Indian Classical Musician received Lifetime Achievement Award; Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Noted Economist, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission for Macro Economic Development and Ms. Vidya Balan, Eminent Film Actor for Art and Culture.

The ceremony was attended by eminent personalities from the Cabinet, Senior Government Officials, Academicians and industry persons.
