Amity University inks MoU with Taiwan institution

Sets up Taiwan Education Centre

Amity University, Uttar Pradesh and National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Hsinchu, Taiwan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for establishment of Taiwan Education Centre (TEC) at Amity University, Sector- 125, Noida. The Universities have agreed to collaborate together to strengthen mutual relationships and facilitate the exchange of expertise leading to academic development of students and staff of both universities.

Taiwan Education Centre (TEC) will promote learning in traditional Mandarin Language among Indian students and will facilitate greater understanding and cooperation between higher education institutes of India and Taiwan. The Centre is proposed to impart beginners, intermediate and advanced levels of instruction in Mandarin Chinese language and would issue “Certificate of Proficiency” to those candidates who clear a test after different levels of Mandarin proficiency. NTHU will depute a Programme Administrator/ Mandarin Instructor to head the Centre. The Memorandum of Understanding will run for five years and will automatically be renewed every year.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Dr. Tsong – Ming Lin- Political Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education, Republic of China and Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan – Founder President, Amity University by Maj. Gen K J Singh- Vice Chancellor, Amity University and Professor Da- Hsuan Feng, Senior Vice President, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan.

Dr. Tsong – Ming Lin- Political Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education, Republic of China emphasized that Taiwan Education Centre (TEC) aims to develop Chinese language in India through collaborative projects. He highlighted that at present, over 450 Indian students are studying in Taiwan and he wants more Indian students to study in the educational institutions located in Taiwan. He expressed his hope that the association with Amity University would be meaningful, providing a forum for building mutual relationship and friendship between both the countries.

This initiative has been taken by Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan- Founder President, Amity Universe in his quest to strengthen bonds of friendship and cooperation between India and Taiwan. Welcoming the alliance, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan said that the collaboration is going to be rewarding for both the universities and in fact, both the countries. Dr. Chauhan remarked that people of Taiwan are hard working and blessed with sharp brains, just like their Indian counterparts and the association between both the countries will develop their respective economies .The student exchange programmes will deepen the mutual understanding between the two countries and provide valuable access to scholarly material and information. He assured the officials from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan that Amity University with its exceptional intellectual capital who are implementers, catalysts and persuaders will ensure that TEC attains all its objectives and even surpass them.

Sharing his views during the occasion, Ambassador Wenchyi Ong- Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in New Delhi said that National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan and Amity University are the best Universities in their respective countries and when two bests come together, the result would definitely benefit the entire world. He expressed that he is looking forward to more and more talented Indian students going to Taiwan for pursuing Advance Degree Programmes and Language Courses and vice versa. Ambassador Wenchyi Ong lamented the fact that out of 1.2 billion population of India, very few people learn Mandarin Chinese and expressed his desire to improvise the situation through TEC which would encourage more and more students to learn Mandarin Chinese language. Ambassador further complemented Amity University and its management for running an institute of remarkable excellence and repute.
