Hyundai Motor India Ltd. India’s largest exporter and second largest passenger car manufacturer has achieved two new milestones leaving the competition behind. Hyundai i10 – the most popular car in compact segment, is rated the country’s most fuel efficient petrol car in the compact segment. Not only this, the best-selling model in Hyundai’s range of cars has also emerged as the top seller in the ‘over 1 litre of capacity’ segment.

The BS IV compliant car powered by a 1.2 litre Kappa engine under test conditions has achieved a spectacular mileage of 19.81 km to a litre of petrol. This is the best in class ARAI-certified fuel efficiency, among petrol cars in compact segment in India. The high fuel efficiency coupled with environment friendliness makes Hyundai i10 an affordable transportation solution with a low carbon footprint for customers in India.

The fuel efficiency and comfort of i10 also makes it the top selling car in the ‘over 1 litre of capacity’ segment. During the financial year 2009 -10, Hyundai i10 sold a whopping 149,242 units in the domestic market thus breaking all previous records and becoming the highest selling car in the ‘over 1 litre of capacity’ segment.

Commenting on this, Arvind Saxena, Director, Marketing and Sales, HMIL, said, “The extraordinary fuel-efficiency of Hyundai i10, best among the petrol cars in its segment emphasizes Hyundai’s overall technology leadership in making highly fuel-efficient cars. We hope that the best-in-class mileage of i10 will enable us to increase our market share by reaching out to a larger customer base. We are also glad that i10 continues to be No.1 in its segment. This reflects the confidence customers place in our brands”.

Right from the time when i10 made its world debut in India, it has witnessed a huge demand both from the overseas as well as the domestic market. Ever since the i10 was introduced with the power-packed and highly fuel efficient Kappa engine, it went on to become the best seller in its segment.
