Bihar Tubes, one of the largest steel tubes producer in the country has today inaugurated new facility in Hosur, Tamilnadu. The facility is the largest in South India. Being built at a capital cost of Rs 100 crores and a capacity of 2,00,000 tpa will meet the growing demand for steel tubes in the Southern market.
The plant is inaugurated by Mr S C Kalia, Executive Director, Union Bank of India.
Bihar Tubes has three plants in the country with an aggregate capacity of 2,00,000 tpa spread over three plants: two near Delhi and one near Bangaluru. Hosur is the fourth facility for the company. With the Hosur facility, Bihar Tubes is the largest producer of steel tubes in the country having total capacity of 4,00,000 tpa upto a size of 12 inches. The new facility has been built with latest machinery of Kusakabe, Japan.
Bihar Tubes produces widest range of steel tubes including black tubes, galvanised tubes, pre-galvanised tubes and hollow sections and caters to industry segments like irrigation, urban infrastructure, automotive (bus bodies), airports, metro networks, etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sanjay Gupta, Managing Director, Bihar Tubes Said “The new facility at Hosur is an important milestone for the company. The facility being the largest in South India employs latest machinery from Japan is versatile and capable of producing widest range of steel tubes and hollow sections in galvanised and pre-galvanised. We are working on developing several products catering to newer applications in airports, metro network, green houses.”
Demand for steel tubes in last three years has seen a tremendous growth following government’s thrust on urban infrastructure. With emphasis on aesthetics and complex structural designs in segments like airports, commercial complexes, usage of steel tubes and hollow sections has gone up. Bihar Tubes is among the leading supplier of hollow steel sections to these industry segments.

For the nine-month period ended December 2009, company has reported net sales of Rs 419.63 crores and net profit of Rs 26.5 crores. The equity of the company is Rs 20.29 crores.
