The Business Process Industry Association of India (BPIAI organised a day-long workshop on ‘Enhancing Personal Effectiveness’ for 26 SHOs of Gurgaon Police. Led by Quatrro BPO Solutions, the workshop was part of the BPO industry’s efforts at strengthening the capacities of different levels of the government through public-private partnership (PPP). .
The focus of the training programme was on self management and teamwork. The objective was to help the participants understand the importance of teamwork, especially to help manage stress and increase professional effectiveness. An important lesson for the participants was on TRACK – Timely Review Actions; Communicate (Reports) & Keep Records.
Mr. Alok Narain, VP – Employee Development, Quatrro, who conducted the workshop, said, “The need assessment of this training was done by visiting various police stations and speaking to the SHOs about their day as well as their work demands. The findings were duly shared with the key stakeholders to determine the exact learning themes and key messages. The idea was to have a training, which understood the facts of how an SHO goes about his day. Based on their inputs, we designed a module specially to cater to their needs.”
The session started with goal-setting and moved on to a discussion on how each police officer can manage stress and time with the help of the ‘urgent/important matrix’. The session closed with the creation of an ‘action plan’ by each participant. The activities enmeshed in the session were designed to bring about a greater understanding of how teamwork, if done well, can help manage stress and increase effectiveness.
Addressing the participants, Commissioner Police, Gurgaon, S.S. Deswal, IPS said, “For anyone to be successful, there is a need for intelligence quotient, emotional intelligence quotient and passion quotient. Once you have the passion for what you do, the stress level automatically reduces as you enjoy your work more. For anyone to grow, he/she needs to build a process of continuous learning and keep pace with the external environment”.
‘‘Being partners is the only way by which we can bring about a change for the better. This idea of a partnership with the Haryana Police is our way of helping to strengthen the capabilities of our police force,” said Quatrro Chairman and Managing Director, Raman Roy.
Mr. Rakesh Sharma, EVP Corporate Affairs and Infrastructure Services for Quatrro said, “These sessions help further strengthen the public–private partnership and, hence, there will be more such sessions in the near future.”
