The Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, Canada today announced the start of the second cohort of the Schulich MBA in India. The Schulich School became the world’s first top tier business school from outside India to launch an MBA program in the country last year. Following the success of the MBA program’s inaugural class in 2010, Schulich is today opening its doors to a second class of 40 students.
The program in India leading to the MBA degree at the Schulich School of Business, Toronto, Canada, has been established through a pioneering twinning arrangement between two leading schools, the Schulich School of Business in Toronto and the S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) in Mumbai. The Schulich MBA Program in India has received government approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the national regulatory body governing school accreditation and the delivery of degree programs in India.
The prestigious Economist magazine ranked the Schulich School of Business among the top ten schools in the world in 2010, ahead of Columbia, MIT and London Business School, and just behind Wharton, Stanford and IMD. Schulich ranked 10th overall in the world, 7th among North American schools, 4th in the world among non-US schools, and 1st among Canadian schools. Student and alumni ratings make up 20% of the survey and 80% is based on quantitative data such as student quality, faculty quality, post-MBA salary and salary increase, and the international breadth of the school’s alumni network.
Schulich’s MBA program is ranked #1 in the world by the Aspen Institute in a global survey that identified which schools are doing the best job of preparing future business leaders for the environmental, social and ethical complexities of modern-day business (http://www.aspeninstitute.org/news/2009/10/21/aspen-institute-announces-alternative-business-school-rankings). Most significantly, Schulich is ranked number 3 in the world by Forbes among two-year MBA programs in the “Years to Payback” category, which measures how quickly graduates recoup their investment in an MBA degree. Schulich graduates need only 3.6 years to recoup their investment, ahead of Stanford, Tuck, Harvard, Columbia, and Chicago.
“Over the last few years leaders of Indian industry have been telling me that the country needs globally trained managers in order to grow and prosper. Schulich has a global student body, global faculty, and a global curriculum and hence is ideally suited to meet India’s needs,” said Schulich Dean Dr. Dezsö J. Horváth, Companion of the Order of Canada and a past recipient of International Dean of the Year honours from the Academy of International Business.
