The Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) and the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to synergise their efforts towards development of the power sector in India.
The MOU was signed by Mr. V K Kanjlia, Secretary, CBIP and Mr. P V Krishna, Director General, IEEMA on behalf of the two organizations.
According to Mr. Krishna and Mr. Kanjlia, “over the years, CBIP and IEEMA have developed expertise and capabilities in different areas related to the power sector. The MOU will have a multiplier effect on their wide range of activities. While the prime constituency of CBIP is central and state utilities, that of IEEMA is the only Association for electrical equipment manufacturing industry. Under the MOU, CBIP and IEEMA will collaborate in jointly organising national / international level seminars and conferences, conducting studies, preparing reports, consultancy services, study missions, case studies, R&D activities, technical training and so on”.
CBIP is a premier institution which renders dedicated services to professional organizations, engineers and individuals, resulting in accelerated development in the twin disciplines of water resources and power in the country and abroad. CBIP is Indian Chapter for 10 international organisations related to water resources and power sectors. It is a knowledge bank and an exchange for dissemination of experience and technical knowledge. Mr. Gurdial Singh, Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority (CEA), is the current President of CBIP.
IEEMA is the apex association of manufacturers of electrical, industrial electronics and allied equipment in India. Founded in 1948, IEEMA has over 750 member organisations encompassing the complete value chain in power generation, transmission and distribution. IEEMA is the natural voice of Indian electrical industry and plays a crucial policy advocacy role with the government and its agencies. Mr. Vimal Mahendru, President (Corporate Affairs), Indo Asian Fusegear Ltd., is the current President of IEEMA.
