Cisco Networking Academy conducts workshop for Amity faculty

Cisco conducts a two day (11-12, July 2011) workshop on “Next Gen Learning Evolution with Cisco Networking Academy” at Amity University Campus, Sector – 125, Noida with the objective of training and refreshing the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills of the faculty and instructors of the various institutions of Amity. Insightful technical sessions in the areas of “IPv4 and IPv6: Similarities and Differences”, “Routing – RIPV1, RIPV2, EIGRP & OSPF”, “Lan Switching – VLAN, VTP and STP”, “Frame Relay and ACLs”, “Academy Connection – A Deep dive, Packet Tracer Workshop, Passport 21 and Aspire Game”, “Academy Evolution changes – A Deep dive on Academy Structure and Roles and Responsibilities”, “Cisco Networking Academy at Amity University” etc will be deliberated upon by technical experts during the two days of the workshop.

Inaugurating the workshop Ms. Bina Raj Debur, Regional Manager, Corporate Affairs, India & SAARC, CISCO Systems informed that the Cisco Networking Academy (CNA) which is the world’s largest classroom has engaged 1 million students across the Globe till date. CNA enables individuals to develop entrepreneurial skills besides valuable Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills that provide them with an edge to succeed in the Global economy. Students receive the same quality of education Globally through e-learning curricula, labs and online assessments that are designed to prepare them for internationally recognized certifications and successful careers in a variety of industries. “The Cisco Networking Academy demonstrates the power of cloud computing in education by utilizing the network to engage 1 million users each day in discovering the power of teaching and learning ICT skills”, she added.

Welcoming Ms. Debur and the esteemed delegates of Team Managers from Cisco Systems across the country Maj. Gen. K Jai Singh, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh (AUUP) said that Information Technology (IT) is not an isolated field and IT and Communication are totally interconnected in their functioning and advancement. The development of IT is factually responsible for the development of several industries including Communication, Education etc. The tools of E-learning, online examinations, online evaluation etc are a boon to the global spread of education far and wide. “Along with its endeavour to provide best quality education in all the fields Amity is committed to work on the further development of ICT nurturing its much valued partnership with Cisco Sytems,” he added.

Wishing great success to the workshop Prof. H.S.P Singh, Director, Amity Institute of Information Technology (AIIT) hoped that it will add a new dimension to the academic chapter and said “Technological development is capable of adding more and more advantages to teaching – learning outcomes in future and therefore such insightful interactions between Amity and Cisco Systems should be constantly encouraged."
