Innovative energy-efficient systems to realise cost savings up to 15% annually

Datacraft announced today that it has been selected by one of India's largest Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies to integrate and implement an innovative green infrastructure facility project in India. The move comes with the conglomerate's decision to consolidate its infrastructure and relocate its headquarters to a new facility. The new environment is slated to be a 100% green infrastructure compliant facility, consisting of four buildings that house the organisation's key departments and IT infrastructure. The energy-efficient systems and collaborative IT infrastructure are expected to result in cost savings up to 15% annually.

Datacraft India was awarded the US$1.2 million contract to build a campus-wide, wireless network infrastructure for the company with a performance optimisation solution at its core. Besides ensuring that the infrastructure is 100% green compliant, the client also requested for enhanced POE (Power over Ethernet) to power collaborative tools located within the campus, including digital media signage (DMS), videoconferencing equipment and video kiosks.

Datacraft went on to customise an innovative green solution based on Cisco technology. This includes Cisco’s new Virtual Switching System (VSS) that enables virtualisation capabilities to help conserve bandwidth usage while ensuring a smooth collaborative experience for the users, particularly when accessing sensitive applications. New operation management features were also activated for ease of manageability.

For advanced power management and infrastructure consolidation, Cisco Catalyst series switches were deployed. This energy-efficient architecture requires fewer components to scale and allowed us to install a variety of virtualisation technologies for a greener infrastructure. Further contributing to the green cause, we implemented Cisco TelePresence to reduce travel and carbon footprint.
