Dollar launches 'MyMe' range of undershirts

Dollar Industries Limited has launched for the first time in the history of vest in India, Men’s ‘Designer Undershirt’ - “MyMe” designed by eminent designers of this generation using fabrics made from‘100% American Pima Cotton’. The company is ready to step up the ladder by exporting the product to global market, especially in Middle East and European countries.

The term vest is basically derived from the French word ‘veste’, Italian ‘vesta’ and Latin ‘vestis’. In India, vest has become an essential part of clothing because of the hot humid climate. Vest, usually known as ‘Banian’ in India is made from a special type of fabric which absorbs the sweat and grime, giving the wearer comfort. Dollar ‘MyMe’ brings light weight cotton innerwear termed as ‘Designer Undershirt’. Cotton comfort conforms to every curve of the body and fits like second skin providing unmatched comfort, fit and durability. The cotton blends soothe and cool skin faster by dissipating heat. This yarn has a sensual feel as the fibre remains soft even after repeated wash for years. This lightweight fabric is incredibly durable, without compromising drape and comfort. The company is one of the leading hosiery brands in the country, achieving the status of “Export House” in accordance with the provisions of foreign trade policy of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, announced their expansion plans in purview with the growth and popularity of the brand.

In accordance with this the company has joined hands with the German retail giants “Carrefour” and “Lulus” in the Gulf – to place their range in the international market, and is currently the highest selling innerwear brand in the UAE and the Middle East which is a revolution in the Indian branded hosiery segment. The company has recently achieved a magic sales figure of 60lakh pieces in the Middle East countries annually.

“Dollar” innerwear has been selected the ‘Best Innerwear Brand of the Year’ for three years including 2009 by CMAI (Clothing Manufacturers Association of India) the apex body of apparel manufacturers of India. Dollar is also the proud recipient of the National Award for Excellence from CMAI. The company recently joined hands with two of the big names in retail market namely Bharti Wal-Mart and Reliance Retail to expand their availability options in the urban sectors. 

The company currently spreads its wings in 26 states and is among the top 4 hosiery brands in India. Dollar aspires to cater to the changing trends and styles across cities and countries. As per the present scenario, Dollar Innerwear owns 16% of the branded hosiery market in India. Annual turnover of Dollar Industries Limited in the present fiscal year is estimated to be Rs 290 crores in 2009-10, and the company is expected to touch the magic figure of Rs 295 crores in the next fiscal year. The brand mainly caters to the upper and middle segment of the market. A nationwide network of agents and distributors make Dollar products available in every corner of India. 7% of the total production is exported now. The company will utilize the existing channels and explore avenues to reach other countries in South East Asia, Europe and South America.

The company has targeted the international market for this new merchandise, speaking of which Mr. Vinod Gupta, Managing Director, Dollar Industries Limited said, “We have major plans of inserting the brand in the international market, for which we have arranged for international models to display the products.”
