India and Africa are natural allies from historical days. Africa is the continent with whom India’s links are historical, precious and special. To further strengthen the bonding and prosperity for both the countries, recently Africa India Partnership Summit was held in Mauritius. Dr Saugata Mitra, Chief People Officer, Mother Dairy was awarded with “Leadership Award” at the Africa India Partnership Summit. The award was presented to Dr Saugata Mitra by Elijah Litheko, CEO-IPM, South Africa & His excellency, Dr David R. Namwandi, Minister of Education, Nambia.
The summit was held in the presence of some of the eminent leaders namely Honorable Dr V.K. Bunwaree, Minister of Education & Human Resources (Mauritius); Dr Rajeshwar Jeetah, Minister of Tertiary Education, Science, Technology & Research (Mauritius); Dr David R. Namwandi, Minister of Education (Nambia).
Speaking on the Africa India Partnership, Dr Saugata Mitra, Chief People Officer, Mother Dairy said, “We are witnessing a historic moment and as today when the mighty European are falling, it is the developing nations which are breaking out into the world of opportunity. Therefore, we need to further consolidate and expand our Strategic Partnership through regular exchanges and engagements in an atmosphere of trust, goodwill and mutuality of interest and ideals. A resurgent India and a strong and confident Africa will together make a major contribution in the world in the 21st Century.”
“Both the countries are working towards the inclusive socio-economic growth and the collective upliftment of peoples and not raw capitalism for the benefit of the few. We need to address the 6 billion people at the Bottom of the Pyramid with less than USD-1/- day,” he added.
Dr Saugata Mitra concluded by saying that, “We should get ready for a world different from the earlier world- A world where Economics is for collective good, sociology for human dignity and governance based on transparency. We should together work towards the inclusive socio-economic growth and the collective upliftment of the people.”
