- Enables customers to derive analytics based on their own information needs, formats & standards
Eastern Software System (ESS), India’s premier ERP Company offering cutting edge technology solutions and services to SMBs and enterprises today announced that it has launched a new reporting-cum-business intelligence (BI) tool for users of ebizframe, its flagship ERP product. The tool is an extremely easy to use and deploy and will completely revolutionize the reporting mechanism from ERPs. The tool uses “MS-Excel” as the front end, giving the users the flexibility to derive useful analytics based on their own information needs, their own formats and their own standards. It needs just about 10 minutes of training for an average MS Excel user to be able to start creating his/her own analytics. The tool is called XLenz (pronounced as excellence) signifying that it gives the senior and top management the “Excel” based “Lens” to analyze their business figures better with necessary drill downs and hence be able to achieve ‘excellence’ in their business.
To make it even easier for users, ESS has already built in a repository of data & graph based analytics in XLenz which enable the user to start using the system in no time. The senior and middle management will typically find it very convenient to use these pre-existing templates. In most of the existing ERPs, users are dependent upon the implementation partner or the technical team to create their own analytics. The cost and logistics of technical support makes it difficult for users to derive analytics useful for their day to day operations. This impedes desired usage of an ERP and promotes forced usage of ERP which often deteriorates with time making the ERP investments go waste. With suitable adaptations, XLenz can also derive data from multiple sources of information besides the ERP and can help users get useful information emanating from multiple applications / processes within the organization.
According to Anil Bakht, Chairman & Managing Director, ESS, “We have always been proactive when it comes to identifying customer requirements and developing fitting solutions such that our customers derive maximum benefits from their investments in our products. Customers, through the use of XLenz, can get an overview based on the current data which is important especially in today’s rapidly changing and highly competitive business environment.”
ESS, owing to its incessant R&D initiatives, keeps launching add-ons for specific functions or modules of its ebizframe ERP product. This is primarily to help customers keep up with all the new developments arising out of changes in technology, functional upgradation or changes in laws (e.g. introduction of VAT in taxation structure or the upcoming IFRS accounting structure). Add-ons are also borne out of learnings at multiple implementations. At ESS, this is an ongoing process for it has customers in 25 countries with implementations and customizations happening across verticals every day. The core team identifies significant changes made to the product, discusses them internally to determine the potential demand and draws up priorities before developing a particular add-on. An active user feedback process is in place which helps ESS capture and deliver the user-desired functionality helping in increased user satisfaction.
Over the years, ebizframe product has matured and ESS has released multiple versions of it as the client base grew significantly. Client specific customizations have been carried out at many sites. It was observed that clients post their ERP implementation are unable to take advantage of new features and functionalities that are a part of more recent releases of ebizframe. ESS has developed an effective mechanism wherein new developments and add-ons (like the newly introduced MS-Excel based Report writer/BI tool) could be shared with all customers irrespective of their country, vertical or the ebizframe version they bought licenses for. Leveraging on its development strengths, ESS came up with a new innovation called ‘ebizframe Bolt On’.
Using the Bolt On concept, customers can choose the newly developed features they wish to add to their currently running version of ebizframe. In the recent past, around 50 Bolt Ons have been released by ESS. They all have had a phenomenal response from existing customers for it saves them both time and money to upgrade their version of ebizframe now with complete ease. A repository of Bolt Ons is being maintained and a communication on them is sent to the customers on a regular basis. Bolt Ons for specific functionalities desired can be bought by customers and it turns out to be much cost effective for them as an option as against having them developed onsite. This is in accordance with ESS’ efforts to further bring down deployment costs for its ebizframe ERP making it more competitive than ever. Besides ensuring that old customers are not bereft of the latest advances, Bolt Ons helps strengthen the ongoing relationship. It reassures them of their investments in ESS products. Almost all ebizframe customers have made use of this innovative concept so far.
