IBM hardware to run their SAP ERP application to ensure energy efficiency and provide green IT environment
IBM (NYSE: IBM) has announced that it has signed an agreement with Ester Industries Limited (Ester), a manufacturing company headquartered in Gurgaon, to help scale the company’s hardware infrastructure to address growing customer demands. Under the agreement, IBM will install IBM BladeCenter servers running IBM AIX operating system and IBM storage for SAP ERP. The new IT set-up will help Ester Industries ensure energy efficiency and provide scalability for future growth.
Ester is India’s leading producer of polyester films and engineering plastics. The company markets its polyester films under the UMA-PET brand and its plastics under the Estoplast brand.
Ester was looking for a new, robust hardware platform to run its critical business applications including SAP ERP. The company needed a solution that provided return on investment (ROI) and a server environment that could help adopt green technology and making the company more energy efficient. Ester chose IBM for the new IT infrastructure because the existing hardware was unable to scale to cater to the increasing application and user workloads.
With help from IBM, Ester installed an IBM BladeCenter H Chassis housing IBM BladeCenter PS701 Express and IBM BladeCenter HS22 servers running both the IBM AIX operating system and IBM PowerVM Standard Edition software. This new server infrastructure allows Ester’s application workloads to be distributed in a virtualized environment thus saving on additional hardware and software expenses and providing better manageability for overall IT.
“Ester has a track record of continually developing new and innovative products for customers across the globe. To support our rapid business growth and market competitiveness, we needed an IT partner that could offer advanced technologies and global expertise in technology based services,” said Mr. Sunil Soni, CIO, Ester Industries Ltd. “While we looked at solutions from other vendors also, IBM provided the most compelling offer of a robust and scalable hardware solution to host our ERP solution. IBM’s global experience has helped us attain better price to performance ratio and manage our expenses efficiently. “
The new solution from IBM side, will provide Ester a powerful, easy to manage and expandable environment with reliable 24x7 server uptime.
Furthermore, Mr. Jyothi Satyanathan, Vice President Mid Market and Inside Sales, IBM India / South Asia said, “This implementation is a great example of how IBM helps enhance business productivity through its energy efficient technologies. We are excited to work with Ester in fulfilling their business vision and committed to providing total customer satisfaction with increased technological capabilities.”
