Fund raising, market opportunities, mentoring and inspiration at TiE Enterprising India

TiE Mumbai – The Indus Entrepreneurs, Mumbai Chapter – announced their annual conference “TiE Enterprising India” to be held on 04 March 2011 and 05 March 2011 at NCPA in Mumbai. Asia's largest gathering of entrepreneurs promises to focus on Inspiration plus Action and will be co-hosted by Ajay Piramal [Piramal Group], Harsh Mariwala [Marico], Kishore Biyani [Future Group], K.V. Kamath [ICICI Bank] and Narendra Murkumbi [Shree Renuka Sugars]. In TiE’s unique format, these iconic Co-hosts will each introduce 3 inspiring examples of Enterprising Indians, who are identified through TiE’s nation wide “Made-in-India” search 

ICICI Bank and KPMG, as founding supporters, are joined by Jaypee and Bombay Stock Exchange [BSE] along with many others from the entrepreneurial eco-system to extend support to TiE’s pan-India Enterprising India movement which aspires to impact at least 1 million Entrepreneurs across India

It is a platform to enable access to market, capital and mentors. TiE Mumbai launched Enterprising India movement in 2009. It attracted around 2,500 enterprising Indians who attended more that 1000 mentoring sessions with over 100 speakers. Enterprising India was co-hosted along with TiE by Icons like KV Kamath, Narayana Murthy, Kishore Biyani, Harsh Mariwala, R. Gopalakrishnan – who introduced some inspiring uncelebrated examples of Enterprising Indians selected by TiE from a nation-wide Made-in-India search. Amongst these inspiring Enterprising Indians, we also had the presence of Ratan Tata, Deepak Chopra, Capt. Gopinath, Jerry Rao and many others. 

Enterprising India this year will focus on INSPIRATION and ACTION. While the iconic Co-hosts will introduce two to three inspiring Made-in-India examples of Enterprising Indians, market Opportunities for SMEs will be provided around Large Enterprises. This will include sectors like Infrastructure, Retail, Information Technology, Telecommunications and Manufacturing. It will also specifically look at geographies like Rural India and Africa. 

One of the key highlights will be Fund Raising Camps with live one-on-one interactions for entrepreneurs with Banks to explore Collateral free Debt through CGTMSE and other debt options. Entrepreneurs could also make Business plan pitches to Angels and VCs present at the two day event. Participants will also have access to Mentors for Idea Validation & Business Guidance. 

Furthermore there will be an exclusive gathering with the TiE Biz World Children (12yrs to 18yrs), who have been seeded with enterprise though TiE Mumbai’s TiE BizWorld program to seed enterprise in Young Enterprising India.

In addition, with Africa being one of the emerging entrepreneurial hubs, discussed in session on ‘Enterprising India in Africa’. 

IN 2009, Nirmala Kandalgaonkar, a small entrepreneur from Aurangabad, was awarded the prestigious ‘Tata TiE Stree Shakti’ award. Nirmala founded Vivam Agrotech, an organization that deals in solid waste management 9 years ago. ‘Do not waste, waste’ is the mantra of the organization that uses several environment friendly ways for solid waste disposal. On getting awarded she quoted that, “With the support of TiE Stree Shakti & banks, I’ll not only clear the waste of Aurangabad & Maharashtra but the entire nation. I’d love to clean India & make it shine.” 

For participating at the Enterprising India: TiE Summit 2011, one can register from their website www.summit.enterprising.in. The total number of seats are limited to 1,500 with only a fortnight to go. The fee differs for TiE members, non-members and students, who would need to show an identity card bearing a stamp of the institution, with a validity of 6 months.
