GAIL recognized as the most diversified PSU in the country

GAIL (India) Limited has received the Award for the Most Diversified PSU in the country. Dr. U.D. Choubey, Chairman and Managing Director, GAIL received the first Dalal Street Investment Journal Award from Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Delhi, here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Delhi made a special mention of GAIL’s contribution to the healthy power situation in Delhi and bringing about a perceptible change in the environment of Delhi through facilitation of conversion of public transport system in the city.

Accepting the award, Dr. Choubey dedicated the award to the gas based fertilizer units producing over 12 million MT of urea every year, gas based power plants generating 14000 MW of power, 12 lakh tonnes of LPG produced from natural gas, 7 lakh vehicles running on CNG in the country and 3500 strong GAIL team.

This is the sixth major recognition received by GAIL nationally and internationally in the current financial year. GAIL has been ranked 2nd among global gas utilities in Asia by Platts and has received wards for excellence in Human Resources and Cost Management as well as award for Safety Innovation. GAIL has recently received the Dun and Bradstreet – Rolta Corporate Award – 2008.

GAIL (India) Limited, is India's principal Natural Gas Company with activities ranging from Gas Transmission and Marketing to Processing (for fractionating LPG, Propane, SBP Solvent and Pentane); transmission of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG); production and marketing of Petrochemicals like HDPE and LLDPE and leasing bandwidth in Telecommunications. The Company has extended its presence in Power, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) re-gasification, City Gas Distribution and Exploration & Production through equity and joint venture participations.
